Sustainability & Environmental Policy

Victoria Packaging Limited

1. Our Commitment

At Victoria Packaging, we recognize that as a leading national distributor of plastic packaging, we have a responsibility to minimize our environmental footprint. Since 1991, we have built our reputation on quality and service; today, that quality is defined by sustainability.

Our mission is to provide high-performance packaging solutions that support a circular economy—ensuring that every product we supply is designed to be kept in use, recycled, and diverted from landfills.

2. Our Core Principles

To guide our operations and product selection, we adhere to the following four pillars of sustainability:

  • Design for Recyclability: 100% of the pots, buckets, and lids we sell are manufactured from Polypropylene (PP), making them fully recyclable. By using mono-material designs (including In-Mould Labelling), we ensure our products can be processed by standard recycling facilities without the need for complex separation.

  • Promotion of Reusability: Our products are engineered for durability. With features like tamper-evident tabs that can be broken off ensuring the product still remains functional after opening and robust wall thicknesses, we encourage “multi-life” use in both commercial and domestic settings.

  • Advancing Recycled Content (PCR): We actively promote our range of 100% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) buckets for non-food applications. These products are exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax and represent our commitment to closing the loop.

  • Responsible Innovation: While food safety regulations currently require virgin plastic for many applications, our suppliers are actively researching and trialling food-safe recycled materials and bio-based alternatives to offer to our customers as soon as they meet our rigorous safety standards.

3. Operational Impact

We strive to ensure our internal operations reflect our external environmental goals:

  • Logistics Efficiency: Operating from our central West Midlands hub, we optimize delivery routes and vehicle loading to reduce transport-related carbon emissions.

  • Waste Hierarchy: We apply the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” hierarchy across our warehouse and offices. All transit packaging (pallets, stretch wrap, and cardboard) is recovered and recycled.

  • Inventory Management: By maintaining high stock levels and tracking demand accurately, we reduce the frequency of emergency shipments and minimize the carbon footprint of our supply chain.

4. Supply Chain & Compliance

  • Standards: We partner with manufacturers who hold ISO 9001, 14001, and 22000 and AA+ BRC Certification.

  • Safety & Ethics: Our food-grade products conform to Norm Pack regulations and BRC standards, ensuring that sustainability never comes at the cost of consumer safety.

  • Transparency: We provide full technical specifications and recyclability data for our entire range to help our customers meet their own ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets.

5. Future Goals

Victoria Packaging is committed to:

  1. Increasing the proportion of PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) products in our total sales volume annually.

  2. Phasing out any non-recyclable secondary packaging materials from our distribution process.

  3. Continuing to lead the industry in educating customers on the environmental benefits of responsible plastic use versus single-use alternatives.
